Afghanistan are set to host Bangladesh for a white-ball bilateral series in the UAE following the Asia Cup. The two sides will face off in a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series as part of their preparations for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

For Afghanistan, the series marks another key step in building a competitive squad ahead of the marquee event. After the T20I tri-series against Pakistan and the UAE, and the conclusion of the upcoming Asia Cup campaign, they will turn their focus to the challenge posed by Bangladesh. The series will begin with the T20I leg on October 2, followed by the ODIs starting October 8.

Both boards expressed excitement about the contest. ACB CEO Naseeb Khan and BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury emphasised the importance of the series, noting that it not only provides valuable game time for the players but also helps strengthen cricketing ties between the two nations.

"We are proud to host Bangladesh in this highly anticipated series. This tour highlights the strength of our partnership and our joint commitment to delivering world-class cricket experiences, even in neutral venues. Fans can look forward to exciting matches and top-level competition,” said Naseeb as quoted by ICC.

“We look forward to taking on Afghanistan in what promises to be a competitive and exciting white-ball series in the UAE. This tour not only presents valuable competition following the Asia Cup but also reflects the mutual respect and strong relationship between our two cricket boards," said Nizamuddin.

The upcoming tri-series against the UAE and Pakistan will mark Afghanistan’s first T20I assignment of the year. Bangladesh, meanwhile, come into the series with strong form, having recently clinched T20I series wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Before facing Afghanistan, they will also take on the Netherlands in a three-match T20I series.

In terms of head-to-head records, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have faced off in 19 ODIs, with Bangladesh holding the edge with 11 wins compared to Afghanistan’s eight. However, the balance shifts in T20Is, where Afghanistan have dominated, winning seven out of 12 encounters against the Tigers.
