Australian skipper Pat Cummins has called for statues of Travis Head and Alex Carey to be made after the duo's performance in the third Test of the ongoing Ashes. Australia took an unassailable lead by winning the Adelaide Test by an 82-run margin. Cummins lauded Head and Carey for their brilliant performance at their home ground in front of a capacity crowd.

"Travis Head and Alex Carey. Do not know where their statues are going to go soon, but they deserve it. It is a wonderful place to play Test cricket. Packed crowds all five days. So many people travel in for this one Test every year. Seeing two homegrown heroes perform was awesome," shared Cummins while speaking during the post-match presentation.

Cummins reserved special praise for Steve Smith, as he ran the show while Cummins was not in the XI for the first couple of matches. He also credited Australia's proactive approach and ability of building strategies as per the requirements posed by different situations.

"Steve was great stepping in (for the first two Tests). Nothing ever happens perfectly, there is always something thrown up. Over the last few years, this group has shown it can just crack on. I missed the first couple of games, Steve stepped straight in, and it was seamless. Nate Lyon is doing his hamstring with a couple of hours left today, the boys just go, "Okay, that has happened. What is next?" That is a big reason for our success over the last few years. Incredible," he added.

Coming into the third Test, Australia had won the first two matches in Perth and Brisbane by an identical margin of eight wickets. Meanwhile, Carey was adjudged as the Player of the Match in Adelaide for his contributions with the bat (106 and 72) as well as with the gloves (six catches). Head also played a vital role, scoring a 219-ball 170 in Australia's second innings.
