Asia Cup 2023: India (IND) Schedule 2023, Time Table, Timings, Dates, Venues Details and PDF Download

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), on Wednesday, July 19, announced the eagerly-anticipated schedule of the Asia Cup 2023. The event is slated to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with the first match taking place on August 30 and the summit clash to be played on September 17.

As per the schedule announced by the ACC, Pakistan and Nepal will lock horns in the curtain raiser on August 30 in Multan, Pakistan. Team India will play the first match of their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue play their final group stage match against Nepal on September 2 at Kandy in Sri Lanka.

It was after much deliberation and discussions between the boards of the teams participating that the ACC finalised upon a hybrid model wherein Pakistan and Sri Lanka will jointly host the event. This came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were at loggerheads over Pakistan’s hosting rights for the event.

While the BCCI made their stance clear on not playing any of their games in Pakistan, the PCB were keen to ensure that at least a part of the event was played at home. The six-nation tournament includes the likes of India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. 

Team India are placed along with Pakistan and Nepal in Group A, whereas the winners of the Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lanka, are grouped with Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in Group B. The format is such at the event will be played in the 50-overs format, which essentially is a preparation run for the 2023 ODI World Cup, slated to be played in India during October-November. 

The top two teams of Group A and Group B will further progress to the Super Four stage. After playing one another in the Super Four Stage, the top two teams will advance to the final of the event, which will be contested on Sunday, September 17.
