Asia Cup 2025: 'Always ready to play, always trying to give my best' - Nasum Ahmed prepared to grab opportunities
Nasum won the Player of the Match award against Afghanistan for 2/11 in four overs.
Nasum Ahmed has said that he is ever-ready to play whenever his team requires him to. Bangladesh's third Asia Cup 2025 match was Nasum's first in the tournament. He made instant impact and won the Player of the Match award against Afghanistan for his bowling performance of 2/11 in four overs on Tuesday, September 16.
Nasum also emphasised that he is always ready to give his best on any chance he gets for the team. He also spoke on his matches against Netherlands after he returned to the squad earlier this month and put on another stellar performance with the ball.
"I am always ready to play, always trying to give my best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Coming back and winning the Player of the Match award: this isn't something new. I was also the Player of the Match in the last game (against Netherlands on September 1)," stated Nasum, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
The bowling all-rounder also expressed that he admired the team for the determination and focus they possess for every kind of situation.
"It all depends on the team's needs, which might be based on our planning, tactics or the opposition. Because of this, sometimes one has to sit out. But I don't worry about that. We stay mentally prepared that whenever anyone gets a chance, he will try to perform well," he added.
Speaking of Bangladesh's most recent match, Nasum registered figures of 4-1-11-2. He picked up the wickets of Sediqullah Atal (0 off 1) and Ibrahim Zadran (5 off 12) and bowled a total of 16 dot deliveries in his spell. The Tigers claimed an eight-run win against the Afghans in Abu Dhabi.
Bowling display, Tanzid fifty guides hosts to convincing win
It was a collective bowling effort by Bangladesh. Mustafizur Rahman (3/28 in four overs) picked up a three-wicket haul. Like Nasum, Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain secured respective two-wicket hauls each. Tanzid Hasan (52 off 31) earlier played a stellar knock to help Bangladesh get to 154/5.
