Pakistan got off to a flying start but India stormed back strongly to seize control in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to field first. The Men in Blue made one change, with Hardik Pandya ruled out due to injury and Rinku Singh drafted into the playing XI.

The openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan a solid foundation with an 84-run stand inside the first 10 overs. Farhan played aggressively, smashing 57 off 38 deliveries with five fours and three sixes, while Fakhar contributed 48. However, their dismissals opened the floodgates for India’s bowlers.

The spin trio of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy dismantled Pakistan’s middle order with relentless accuracy. Kuldeep turned the game decisively with three wickets in a single over, finishing with figures of 4/30. Axar supported well with 2/26, while Chakravarthy chipped in with 2/30. Apart from the top three, no Pakistani batter managed to reach double digits.

Jasprit Bumrah added the finishing touches, claiming 2/25 as Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs. India were handed a target of 147 to lift a record-extending ninth Asia Cup title.
