Indian team suffered another narrow defeat against Bangladesh in the second ODI after their embarrassing loss in the first match. The traveling side fell off just five runs short while chasing a 272-run target at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday (December 7).

Apart from their inconsistent and disappointing performance, the Indian team also suffered a setback as  Indian captain Rohit Sharma and star pacer Deepak Chahar suffered minor injuries and have now been ruled out from the third ODI, which is scheduled at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on December 10.

After the match, Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid, revealed that Rohit, Deepak, and Kuldeep Sen will certainly miss the third ODI match. He also stated that Rohit will fly back to India for a medical examination and will come back for the Tests if he recovers.

"Kuldeep, Deepak and Rohit will certainly miss the next game. Kuldeep and Deepak are out of the series, Rohit as well will certainly miss the next game, fly back to Bombay, consult with an expert and see how it is and whether he can come back for the Test matches or not, I'm not sure. It's too soon to say that. But all three of them won't play the next game for sure," Rahul Dravid said after the game.

Indian captain injured his left thumb while fielding in slips during the second over. He left the field for a scan and missed the majority of Bangladesh's innings. However, he returned to bat in the no.9 position and smashed unbeaten 51 runs off 28 balls to guide India to closer to the target. After the match, he revealed that his thumb is not looking great and has a bit of dislocation.

"It [the thumb] is not too great. There was a bit of dislocation on the finger and some stitches. Luckily, it's not a fracture and so that's a good thing, that's a positive, which is why I could come out and bat," Rohit said in post-match conference.

Kuldeep Sen made his debut in the first ODI with two wickets but missed the second game with a minor back problem as he was replaced by Umran Malik. India's injury problems worsen with Deepak also ruled out from the third match. Chahar was able to bowl only three overs as he hurt his hamstring but came out to bat. With both Sen and Deepak out injured, the Indian team is likely to play with only five bowlers in the third and last ODI on Saturday.
