Bangladesh won the first Test by 104 runs against Pakistan.
Nahid Rana produced a fiery spell with the ball and delivered one of the best dismissals of the match as Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on May 12. The young pacer’s sensational nip-backer to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan became one of the major highlights of the contest and pushed Bangladesh closer to a memorable victory.
The dismissal came on the second ball of the 47th over during Pakistan’s second innings. Bowling at a sharp pace of 147 kmph, Nahid delivered a ball that jagged back in sharply after pitching. Rizwan attempted to leave the delivery after pressing across the crease, but the ball continued to move in and clipped the top of middle stump. The Bangladesh players erupted in celebration immediately after the wicket, while bowling coach Shaun Tait was seen smiling in appreciation of the brilliant delivery. Rizwan managed only 15 runs from 46 balls before being sent back.

Speaking about the match, Bangladesh posted 413 in their first innings in 117.1 overs. Mominul Haque played a patient knock of 91 runs from 200 deliveries, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored an impressive 101 off 130 balls. Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim also contributed with a solid 71-run innings. For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas picked up five wickets for 92 runs, while Shaheen Afridi claimed three wickets.
Pakistan responded with 386 in their first innings. Azan Awais scored 103, while Abdullah Fazal, Salman Agha, and Rizwan chipped in with useful half-centuries. Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz starred with the ball, taking 5/102.
In their second innings, Bangladesh scored 240/9 declared, with Shanto making 87 and Mominul adding 56. Pakistan were then bowled out for 163 in the chase, with Abdullah Fazal scoring 66. Nahid Rana finished with outstanding figures of 5/40, while Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam took two wickets each. The second Test between the two sides will begin in Sylhet on May 16.
