BCCI congratulates Blind T20 World Cup-winning Indian team
The entire team was invited to the headquarters of the BCCI on December 19 (Friday) and also met the administrative body's treasurer Raghuram Bhat.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has congratulated the India Blind Women's cricket team on winning the inaugural installment of the Women's T20 World Cup for the Blind. Notably, India went undefeated throughout the tournament to clinch a historic triumph.
The entire team was invited to the headquarters of the BCCI on December 19 (Friday) and also met the administrative body's treasurer Raghuram Bhat. A few pictures of the team members meeting Bhat were posted by the official account of the BCCI.
Indian captain Deepika TC complimented the efforts of the team and also commented that she was extremely proud of what they had achieved.
"We are very proud, and it is a huge win. Our entire team worked very hard. It is a very strong team, and other teams are afraid of playing with us. We are even ready to play with the men's team," shared Deepika after winning the summit clash.
A few days earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the India women's team for winning their maiden Women's Blind T20 World Cup. He did so while addressing the nation during the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat.
IND defeat NEP by seven wickets to create history
Speaking of India's campaign, they kicked off by getting the better of Sri Lanka. They then went onto secure victory by 57 runs after Australia could not chase the 293-run target.
The next match was against Pakistan in which India chased down 136 in only 10.2 overs. They met Australia again, this time in the semi-final. India defeated the Aussies by a comprehensive nine-wicket margin. The final was a one-sided one against Nepal. The Indians ended up winning the contest by seven wickets.
