Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has been out of action for a while now, has suffered a fresh injury that will keep him out for yet another week at the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. The styling English cricketer has so far featured only in two matches, and has not managed to prove his worth of INR 16.25 crore.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed that Stokes will remain out of the scheme of things as he is currently recovering from the injury. He also revealed that the 31-year-old’s injury is not a major one and that he is working hard on himself to recover well in time and be a part of the yellow outfit soon.

After CSK’s victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Fleming, during the post-match press conference, provided an update about Stokes’ injury as he said:

“Ben Stokes has suffered an injury setback and will be out for a week. Stokes, just a setback, I'm not gonna go into it, but it's not major. It's just he's close. He's working really hard to get right, can't fault that at all. So, he just needs a little bit of luck.”

While there have been several injury concerns in the CSK camp, skipper MS Dhoni continues to participate in the matches despite the knee injury. After the home game against Rajasthan Royals last week, Dhoni was seen limping while walking, but the 41-year-old returned for the next game and took the side to a victory. Speaking of Dhoni’s injury, Fleming added:

“MS is completely fine. He is managing his injury well. He is available. He always keeps the team first. If he knows he can't contribute because of injury, he would have sat out himself. There is no concern with him.”

Chennai Super Kings, on Friday, April 21, defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets to mark their fourth victory of the tournament. Having played six games so far, CSK have lost only two matches and are sitting comfortably at the third spot in the IPL points table. CSK will look to extend the winning streak when they square off against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on April 23.
