BPL Schedule 2023: Date, Time, Fixtures, Teams, Venue details

The schedule of the 2023 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has been announced with all the fixtures and their respective venues.

BPL 2023 will kick start on January 6 with a clash between defending champions Comilla Victorians and Chattogram Challengers. A total of seven teams will play in a double round-robin format with the top four teams qualifying for the knockouts.

Three venues will host all 46 matches (42 group-stage and four knockout fixtures) this season. The Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka will host all four knockout matches, including the final on February 16. Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram are the other two venues.

Last season, Comilla Victorians under the captaincy of Imrul Kayes won the tournament with a thrilling last-ball win over the Shakib Al Hasan-led Fortune Barishal. The star Caribbean all-rounder Sunil Narine won the Player of the Match award in the final for smashing 57 runs off 23 balls and taking two valuable wickets of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo.

Shakib Al Hasan won the Player of the Tournament award for scoring 284 runs and taking 16 wickets. Chattogram Challengers' batter Will Jacks scored the most runs (414) while Comilla Victorians' pacer Mustafizur Rahman claimed the most number of scalps - 19 wickets in the last season.

The star Pakistani bowler Shaheen Afridi and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are among the notable Pakistani cricketers who will participate in BPL 2023. Sri Lankan stars Dasun Shanaka, Pathum Nissanka, and Dhananjaya de Silva, Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi, and Zimbabwe's-rounder Sikander Raza are among the big overseas names set to play in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
