Buchi Babu tournament 2025: Tamil Nadu skipper Sai Kishore ruled out with injury
Kishore's injury has forced the team management to appoint Pradosh Ranjan Paul as the new captain.
Tamil Nadu’s experienced left-arm spinner and TNCA President’s XI captain, R. Sai Kishore, has been ruled out of the Buchi Babu Tournament 2025 due to an injury, prompting last-minute leadership changes in the squads.
Kishore, who had an impressive IPL 2025 season with the Gujarat Titans, was set to lead the TNCA President’s XI in the upcoming tournament. However, his injury has forced the team management to appoint Pradosh Ranjan Paul as the new captain. Paul, originally named skipper of the TNCA XI, will now take over the President’s XI, while M. Shahrukh Khan will lead the TNCA XI.
The leadership changes have triggered a reshuffle across both squads. P. Vidyuth moves from TNCA XI to TNCA President’s XI, while P. Vignesh also joins the President’s XI. On the other hand, M. Siddharth switches from TNCA President’s XI to TNCA XI due to personal reasons. These changes come shortly after Vignesh Puthur’s strong IPL 2025 showing with the Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, originally started as a memorial event, the Buchi Babu Tournament gained significant attention in the late 1960s under the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Once regarded as India’s premier first-class competition before the Ranji Trophy. Notably, the tournament continues to be a crucial fixture in the domestic calendar. The 2025 edition will be held from August 18 to September 9 in Chennai, just ahead of the Duleep Trophy, which will kick off the new domestic season.
