Farid Khan, a Pakistani journalist and founder of Cric Den, has trolled Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over their rift with the interim Punjab government. Both PCB and the Punjab government are involved in a conflict over the cost of security for the games to be played in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Khan, a renowned journalist in Pakistan and an ardent follower of the PSL posted a tweet, trolling the PCB by saying that it could move the PSL to the United States of America, even if UAE agrees to host it. This comes across as a subtle dig at the financial crunch of the apex organization which led to the prolonged strife between them and the Punjab Government, putting the future of PSL games in Lahore and Rawalpindi on hold.

On February 25, 2023, PCB chief Najam Sethi and a delegation of the interim Punjab government met at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to resolve the issue. However, the meeting couldn’t bring any positive results. Going with the flow, on Sunday, Lahore hosted its first game of the competition as Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi locked horns at the Gaddafi Stadium. However, before the first match of the Lahore leg, security cameras, batteries, and cables worth PKR 10 lakh were stolen to make the situation even worse for all the stakeholders.

Following that, PCB is getting mercilessly trolled on social media sites. On the other hand, the board is also facing fierce criticism for its back-up plan of shifting Lahore matches to Karachi in case of failure of talks with Punjab government. Taking a dig on the matter, the Pakistani journalist seems to have posted the aforementioned tweet to ridicule PCB.

Khan had earlier attempted to troll Kohli before facing backlash from cricketers and fans

In the past too, Khan has invited controversies a number of times with his style of commentary. In January 2023, he posted a tweet mocking Virat Kohli after the latter’s 166-run knock against Sri Lanka in the third ODI of the recent India tour of the Islanders.  This knock was record-breaking for Kohli in many sense as the batsman broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of most international cenuries in one particular country, among others.

Farid Khan tried to grab the opportunity to troll Kohli for his and India's failure to win any multi-lateral tournament in the recent years. Taking to Twitter, Khan wrote “Virat Kohli is at his best when there’s no pressure, the series is not on the line, and conditions are great for batting. There’s no harm in gaining confidence and form in such matches, India needs him to perform well in Test cricket with Australia coming over too tho. #INDvSL”

However, he faced a backlash for his tweet against the legendary player. Apart from fans, Pakistan cricketer Sohaib Maqsood also reacted to his tweet and reminded him of Kohli’s achievements in international cricket.
