The Indian cricket team gets great support wherever it plays. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a young squad of talented players to participate in a three-match T20I series against Ireland. Some bonafide superstars of Indian cricket, like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, have not made the trip to Ireland. However, that has not stopped Indian fans from buying tickets for the matches to support the rising stars of Indian cricket.
Cricket Ireland confirmed on their website that the first two T20Is between Ireland and India have been sold out, while the tickets for the third and final T20I are selling rapidly as well.
“The first and second Men’s T20 Internationals between Ireland and India are now sold out, with the third match selling quickly,” Cricket Ireland posted on their website. This is undoubtedly some good news for Irish cricket, which has been doing decent work for a number of years. All three T20Is will be played at ‘The Village’ Malahide Cricket Club Ground which has an official seating capacity of 11,500.
Jasprit Bumrah will be in action after being sidelined for close to eleven months due to a back stress fracture. He will lead the side that comprises exciting uncapped players like Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma. Impressive performers from the recently-concluded West Indies tour, like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Mukesh Kumar, will also be in action. They will look to build on their performances and establish themselves on the international circuit.
Ireland are coming off an impressive European Region Qualifier campaign
Ireland booked their spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup on the back of a professional performance in the European Region Qualifier last month. They finished second to Scotland on the points table. Paul Stirling and Co. managed to win four out of their six matches in the group stage and will be looking to give a good account of themselves against India.
Last year, India played two T20Is against Ireland, and Hardik Pandya's men won both games. However, the home side showed promise and made India work hard for their wins. They will be hoping to push India this time as well.
