'CSK fans don't want to hear, but this is a great redemption' - Ian Bishop lavishes massive praise on Yash Dayal

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) seamer Yash Dayal turned a hero for his team once again as he kept his nerve in the final over against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3 in a last-ball thriller to get his team to a narrow win. Dayal defended 15 off the last six balls despite the presence of a well-set Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and later Shivam Dube in the over.

A lot of praise has been rightfully coming towards Dayal, especially after he has managed to make a comeback in the last two seasons after being at the receiving end of the Rinku Singh six fest in 2023. Former West Indies pacer and commentator Ian Bishop has openly praised the left armer and also revealed a conversation he had with Dayal a day before the RCB-CSK game after running into him at a mall.

“I want to tell a story for this young man. I met him yesterday at a shopping mall. He came up to me and introduced himself. I asked him how he was going. He said he wasn't so happy with the way his season had gone with the ball, and the one thing I said to him is that every commentator since that incident two years ago is backing you to continue excelling. And he just took it so calmly and said, Yes, sir, yes," Bishop said during commentary on-air.

Bishop was overjoyed as Dayal once again proved his worth by successfully defending 15 off the final over, even with the presence of experienced batters in Dhoni, Jadeja, and Dube at the crease. Notably, he ended up conceding a six off a no-ball and yet managed to defend the total eventually.

“I'm overjoyed, and I know CSK fans don't want to hear that, but this is great redemption for this kid under pressure because he's been through Ravi Shastri so much in that incident two years ago," Bishop added.
