Delhi Capitals missed out on the playoffs in IPL 2025 by a whisker with seven wins and six losses in 14 matches, including a rain-affected match. The runners-up of the 2020 season ended up in the fifth place with 15 points at a net run rate of +0.011 in 2025.

The Delhi-based franchise traded in left-handed batter Nitish Rana from Rajasthan Royals ahead of the auction. They had a total of eight slots remaining, out of which they could fill five for overseas players. The Axar Patel-led unit had KL Rahul as their leading run-getter and Kuldeep Yadav as their leading wicket-taker, respectively.

The franchise roped in the likes of Pathum Nissanka and David Miller to strengthen their batting firepower. Auqib Nabi, the Jammu & Kashmir talent, was also picked up by the franchise. Auqib has been a star performer for his state since quite some time. Lastly, they also got the services of Kyle Jamieson into their set-up, who was also the last player to be sold at the auction.
