Making his Test debut for India against England, in November 2016, Karun Nair announced his arrival in style as he smashed a triple ton in his first-ever Test series. By accomplishing the feat, Nair also set a record and became the quickest batter, in terms of matches played, to hit a maiden triple century in the history of Test cricket.
Nair has neither been a part of the national team, nor is he in the selection committee’s scheme of things since March 2017. He has only played eight international games so far which includes six Tests and two One Day Internationals. Meanwhile, Karun’s last ODI appearance came way back in June 2016.
Karun Nair posted an emotional note on social media expressing his heartfelt desire to play Test cricket again. Some say that his tweet points to the Indian selectors for giving him a chance at the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. But Nair's tweet came exactly on the day when the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had announced the squads for the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 fixtures against Services and Pondicherry.
Karun Nair hungry for achieving Test excellence
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Karun Nair wrote, “Dear cricket, give me one more chance”. His tweet ended with a 'fingers-crossed' emoji.
Dear cricket, give me one more chance.🤞🏽

It is to be noted that Karun Nair is the only Indian batter, apart from Virender Sehwag, to score a triple century in red-ball cricket. He scored an unbeaten 303 during the fifth and final Test match against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in December 2016.
That triple century of Karun Nair proved to be a match-winning knock as the Virat Kohli-led Indian side came out on top by an innings and 75 runs to finish the series with an unassailable 4-0 win.
The 31-year-old, who was not included for this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, failed to find a place in the squad for the first two games of the upcoming Ranji Trophy. He surely is a potential player and with this promising and ambitious tweet, Karun Nair has made a statement that all he needs is one chance to prove that he still has a lot of cricket left in him.
Nair, who is India’s second triple centurion in Test cricket, has not played a competitive match since August this year at the senior level and the last time he was seen in action was for Mysuru in the Karnataka Premier League.
