East Zone won the Duleep Trophy 2026 final on first-innings lead after the match ended without an outright result on September 10 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

East Zone batted first and posted a massive 708, with captain Ishan Kishan leading the charge with a dominant 270. Abhimanyu Easwaran contributed 72, Shikhar Mohan scored 85, while Kumar Kushagra added 101. For South Zone, Tripurana Vijay was the pick of the bowlers with 4/180, while Chama V Milind and Shreyas Gopal claimed two wickets each.

In reply, South Zone were bowled out for 336. Devdutt Padikkal scored 62, while Tilak Varma narrowly missed out on a century with 99. Mukesh Kumar led East Zone’s bowling attack with 3/62, while Mohammed Shami, Md Kounain Quraishi and Shikhar Mohan picked up two wickets apiece.

East Zone then declared on 388/7 in their second innings, with Quraishi remaining unbeaten on 116. Shikhar Mohan scored 52, Ishan Kishan added 80, and Anukul Roy contributed 64. MD Nidheesh was the leading wicket-taker for South Zone in the second innings with 2/28.

With East Zone securing a substantial first-innings lead, they were declared the winners of the Duleep Trophy 2026 final.


Top batting performance — Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan produced the standout batting performance of the match, scoring a magnificent 270 off 334 balls, including 30 fours and seven sixes. He continued his impressive form in the second innings, adding 80 off 98 deliveries with nine fours and three sixes, playing a crucial role in East Zone’s dominant performance.


Best bowling spell — Tripurana Vijay

Tripurana Vijay was the top bowling performer of the match for South Zone. He claimed 4/180 in East Zone’s first innings, dismissing Sudip Kumar Gharami, Ishan Kishan, Kumar Kushagra and Mukesh Kumar. Vijay also picked up one wicket in the second innings, finishing with figures of 1/127 after dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Match after scoring a remarkable 350 runs across both innings. His outstanding batting performance helped East Zone dominate South Zone in Chennai and secure the Duleep Trophy title.

South Zone captain Tilak Varma has been named Player of the Series after an impressive campaign in the Duleep Trophy. He scored 266 runs in two matches at a remarkable average of 266, including one century and two fifties, making him one of the standout performers of the tournament.
