At the end of the blockbuster five-match series, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was shared as India pulled off a sensational six-run win on the final day at The Oval to level the series 2-2.

Tasked to chase 374 for victory, England began the final day needing just 35 runs with four wickets in hand. Joe Root and Harry Brook had already slammed hundreds, taking England to 339/6 by stumps on Day 4. Yet, the fifth morning had its share of drama. India, guided by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna's bowling, bounced back brilliantly. Siraj finished with a five-for, including the match-winning wicket of Gus Atkinson.

Earlier in the day, England lost the wickets of Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, and Josh Tongue was bowled. Chris Woakes, who was suffering from a dislocated shoulder, was walking in with his left arm in a sling. The all-rounder didn't face any delivery but ran bravely between the wickets and gave Atkinson the strike.

Atkinson, meanwhile, smashed a six to reduce the target to single digits. However, with seven runs needed with one wicket in hand. Siraj hammered the final nail in the coffin as he clean bowled Atkinson and uprooted the off stump. It was India’s narrowest Test win in terms of runs.

Meanwhile, India had been bundled out for 224 in the first innings, with Atkinson bagging five wickets. England replied with 247, thanks to Zak Crawley and Harry Brook. In India’s second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 118 and Akash Deep’s surprising 66 pushed the visitors to 396, setting England 374 to win.

England looked in a good position at 301/3 with Brook and Root smashing respective tons. England collapsed from 301/3 to 367 all out, handing a win to India and finishing with 2-2.
