ENG vs IND 2025: LSG post celebrating India’s heroes in Manchester draw omits KL Rahul
KL Rahul scored 90, narrowly falling short of the three-figure mark and also sharing a 188-run stand with Shubman Gill.
India were in deep trouble on Day 4 at Old Trafford against England. With early wickets tumbling, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan both dismissed for ducks, it was not flair that rescued them, but grit. KL Rahul stepped up when it mattered most, anchoring the innings with a composed 90 and forging a vital 188-run partnership with skipper Shubman Gill.
The opener’s knock spanned 230 deliveries and was a masterclass in patience. While he fell short of a century, his contribution was no less significant. In a cricketing culture obsessed with three-figure scores, Rahul’s 90 may not have made headlines, but it was the bedrock of India’s second-innings revival.
Following the match, the right-handed batter’s former IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), posted a tweet celebrating India's remarkable second-innings comeback. The graphic featured the three centurions, Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar, with the caption, "The men who made it happen".

However, Rahul was conspicuously ommitted from the post, leaving the fans confused. Tensions between Rahul and LSG have been burning since the infamous on-field spat between Rahul and team owner Sanjiv Goenka during IPL 2024. Not long after, Rahul was released ahead of the 2025 auction and picked up by Delhi Capitals, where he responded in the best way possible, with consistent runs and form.
The tweet from LSG felt like a subtle jab and fans were quick to point out that the graphic celebrating India’s fightback is incomplete without Rahul's mention as it was the 33-year-old’s resilience that gave India the platform to survive.
Meanwhile, India and England will face off one last time in the series, as they meet at the Oval in the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025
