England Women have unveiled their three squads for their upcoming tour of India, which includes a Test, T20, and an England A squad. Sophie Ecclestone, who underwent shoulder surgery in September, has been selected for both the Test and T20 squads as she continues her rehabilitation in preparation for the India series. The teams will kick off their training camp in Oman before heading to India.

In the interim, the wicketkeeper-batter, Bess Heath, secures her spot in both squads following her senior debut for England in the One Day International against Sri Lanka last September. The versatile all-rounder, Alice Capsey, is also poised to earn her maiden Test cap. England is set to engage in a series of three IT20s at Wankhede Stadium and a four-day Test showdown at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai next month, marking their return to India for the first time since 2019.

In the meantime, England Women A have announced a robust 21-player squad set to embark on a training stint in Oman from November 12th to 25th, gearing up for their upcoming trio of IT20 clashes against India A. Notably, Tash Farrant, who underwent lumbar spine surgery due to a stress fracture in June, is part of the squad, focusing on her return to competitive bowling. Joining her are promising bowlers Mahika Gaur and Lauren Filer, who impressed during the past summer's cricket season.

Heather Knight's squad is scheduled to embark on a training camp in Oman from November 17th to December 2nd, leading up to their inaugural IT20 clash at Wankhede Stadium. A streamlined 14-player lineup will be designated for the IT20 games against India A, while those not chosen will continue training with England Women in Oman. When discussing the challenges of competing in Indian conditions and the upcoming World Cups, Head Coach Jon Lewis conveyed his thoughts.

“We have a nice blend of youth and experience. It’s an exciting squad and a group that is ready to take on the challenge of what will be a really tough series in India. We haven’t toured India for a number of years. We have players who have experienced playing in the Women’s Premier League but many haven’t played international cricket there before.”

He further added, “Playing in Indian conditions is great preparation for our next two World Cups in the subcontinent and will be an amazing learning opportunity for both the players and the staff. We respect the Indian team and are really looking forward to the challenge.”
