Hampshire Cricket reversed the signing of New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn on September 2, 2026, following significant backlash from supporters and staff. The backlash centred on Kuggeleijn's legal history. The New Zealand cricketer was acquitted of rape and indecent assault charges in 2017, following a hung jury at his initial trial in 2016. The incident that led to the charges occurred in 2015. Supporters voiced strong opposition once his inclusion in the squad became known, and Hampshire confirmed it had listened to that feedback before deciding to reverse the decision.

Kuggeleijn's inclusion had not been accompanied by any formal club announcement, meaning supporters learned of the signing through the squad listing for the Warwickshire fixture rather than through an official statement.
