After having three consecutive failures in the ongoing Indian Premier League season 16, Harry Brook finally rose to the occasion and proved his naysayers wrong in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fourth fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders. The 24-year-old scored a sensational 100* off 55 balls, smashing 12 fours and three sixes in his innings.
Courtesy of his knock, SRH posted a massive 228/4 in the first innings and ended up winning the match by 23 runs. After his breathtaking knock, Brook got praise from former India bowler Harbhajan Singh who said that he’s been able to hide his issues against spin well so far, and he’s looking to just take singles against them.
"Brook plays fast bowling well. He has an array of shots in his batting repertoire against fast bowlers. Although he isn't very strong against spin, he hides his weakness by taking singles and doubles. Whenever he gets a chance, he hits the weak balls from the pacers for boundaries. Also, he is getting good support from other SRH batsmen. This will give him a lot of confidence going forward," Harbhajan said on Star Sports.
SRH will next face Mumbai Indians in their fifth fixture on Tuesday, April 18, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Both Mumbai and Hyderabad started their campaigns with back-to-back losses in the first two fixtures and staged a brilliant comeback in their next two games.
Hopefully, we'll see that old MI side against SRH: Mohammad Kaif
Talking about the upcoming game, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that, hopefully, he will get to see Mumbai Indians of the old, who are known for their aggressive batting performances.
"Hopefully, we'll see that old Mumbai Indians side against Sunrisers Hyderabad. MI of the old was known for its aggressive batting performances, and the last two games were a testimony to that," Kaif told Star Sports.
Hyderabad have won their previous two matches against Punjab Kings and KKR, while Mumbai have defeated Delhi Capitals and KKR as well. Having got their campaign back on track after a sluggish start both sides will look to continue their winning momentum and complete a hat-trick of wins.
