Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne has expressed elation over Michael Neser's performance in the second Test of the ongoing Ashes. Neser, who was playing a Test after three years, ended up securing a six-wicket match haul in the pink-ball Test.

Labuschagne lauded Neser for the impact he made with the old ball in England's second innings, restricting them to manageable total.

"To see him take five wickets with the old ball, it was awesome. There was a moment earlier in the season when I was just like, 'Man, I hope he gets his chance'. I saw the writing on the wall there that there's potential and to be able to come and deliver, I think there were some nerves in the first innings and then to come out in the second innings and play that role, get a five-for, I was just so happy," stated Labuschagne, as quoted by ICC.

Additionally, the 31-year-old mentioned that Neser has more to offer than just the ball as he is quite a well-rounded cricketer.

"He just keeps delivering and delivering and we didn't see the best of his batting either and I think that's probably the exciting part as well is he's got a lot to offer with not only the ball but that (batting) and his fielding," he added.

Neser has toiled hard in the domestic circuit over the years. Speaking of 2025, he picked up 29 wickets in just 12 innings for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield.

Neser was one of the star performers for Australia in the day-night encounter in Brisbane. However, Mitchell Starc received the Player of the Match award for his eight-wicket match haul (6/75 and 2/64) and a fine 71 down the order. The third Test is scheduled to be played in Adelaide from December 17.
