Young India batter Prithvi Shaw is currently in England to improve his batting skills, with the aim of making a comeback to team India. It’s been more than two years since the 23-year-old last played for the national team.

Shaw made a roaring entry into international cricket in an ODI series against New Zealand in February 2020. He, however, failed to maintain his momentum and it resulted in his omission from several important international events. Meanwhile, he has produced some impressive knocks in the domestic circuit.

Shaw, who is currently representing Northamptonshire in the ongoing Royal London Cup has demonstrated some remarkable performances. The 23-year-old scored a 153-ball 244 against Somerset. He then scored another ton in the next game against Durham, scoring an unbeaten 125 off 76 balls, including fifteen fours and seven sixes.

Meanwhile, John Sadler, the Northamptonshire coach, lavished praise on the right-handed batter, stating he would like to describe the youngster as 'humble'. He further spoke about Shaw's commitment to the game, and stated he has been a star in the dressing room.

“Humble is the perfect word to describe Prithvi Shaw. He’s gracious and respectful, he’s loved being a part of the team. We’re loving having him here as well,” Sadler was quoted as saying by News 18.

“His skill speaks for itself, he’s a superstar. He’s as good as I’ve seen in 25 years of playing this game. He’s up there with the best in terms of ball striking. He genuinely wants to win games of cricket and has been a star in the dressing room,” the coach added.

Prithvi Shaw scripted a new record, becoming the first Indian batter to score a double-hundred in List A cricket in England. The 23-year-old currently is the highest run-scorer in the ongoing tournament, having scored 304 runs in three games. Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara is next on the list, with 302 runs in four matches.
