‘I am not the person Palash Muchhal cheated on Smriti Mandhana with’ - Mary D'Costa denies rumours

Mary D’Costa took to Instagram to clarify the viral chats circulating online, stating that she never met Palaash Muchhal and that their contact lasted for only a month. The internet has been buzzing with speculation and unverified rumours ever since cricketer Smriti Mandhana and composer Muchhal’s wedding was postponed. Among the many claims, one rumour suggested that Mary D’Costa was somehow linked to the delay.
Screenshots of alleged chats between Muchhal and D’Costa surfaced on social media, sparking widespread speculation. In her Instagram clarification, D’Costa firmly denied all such claims. She stated that she had never met Muchhal in person, their communication lasted only a month, and she had no role in the wedding postponement. She also dismissed reports, stating that she is not the choreographer public is mistaking her for.
"First, the exchange of chats happened between April 29th and May 30th 2025, so the contact lasted for only one month. I want to make it absolutely clear that I never met him and I never got involved with him in any way. People have been asking, "Why speak about this now?" The truth is, I actually exposed him back in July, but no one really knew who he was at that time, so it went unnoticed," Mary wrote in a note shared on Instagram.
Mary had shared screenshots of her alleged chats with Palaash on Reddit. Although the account, along with its display picture, has since been deactivated, the screenshots had already circulated widely across social media platforms.
"There's also been a lot of confusion about who I am. I want to clarify, I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with. I'm saying this because things are getting mixed up, and I don't want people assuming the wrong things," Mary wrote.
Smriti and Palash were scheduled to tie the knot on November 23 in her hometown of Sangli, Maharashtra, but the ceremony was postponed after the cricketer’s father was hospitalised due to a heart-related health scare. However, Smriti’s decision to delete all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account sparked fresh speculation online. Mary, meanwhile, also dismissed rumours claiming she was a choreographer who may have been involved in preparing the couple’s wedding performances.
“I want to clarify, I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with,” Mary wrote.
