Since Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took over the coaching and captaincy role, respectively, England have suffered four of their last 18 matches. After a humiliating defeat in the 2021 Ashes in Australia, the England Test team have made so many changes. Joe Root stepped down as skipper while Chris Silverwood was sacked as head coach.

After two consecutive losses in the 2023 Ashes at home, England staged a stunning comeback and won the third game. However, the fourth game ended in a draw, England won the fifth and final game to restrict Australia to register a record Ashes win as they continued their aggressive brand of cricket.

In the same vein, the veteran India off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, has opened up about his liking for England's Bazball approach, stating he cannot wait for them to visit India for the Test series in 2024. Ashwin stated that England have been playing a very good brand of cricket. The 36-year-old mentioned England's success in recent years and also emphasized India's performance as well.

"England are playing a very exciting brand of cricket that has excited a lot of people around the world. On the other hand, we have been extremely consistent and successful in recent years," Ashwin was quoted as saying by India Today.

I don't think England are going to take one foot backward: Ashwin

The Ben Stokes-led side will next play a five-game Test series against India in January-March next year. Ravichandran Ashwin went on to say that he is waiting for the Test series against England.

"I cannot wait for them to come here and I don't think they are going to take one foot backward, they will continue to play the way they play. It wouldn't be an overstatement if I say that England is possibly the team to beat at this point of time," Ashwin concluded.
