RCB pacer Harshal Patel has said that even though he managed to pick up 10 wickets in IPL 2023, he is not happy with the way he is bowling. Notably, Harshal was one of the key bowlers for RCB in the last couple of editions as his variations were difficult for the batters to decipher. This season, he has not managed to make much impact. In fact, other than Mohammed Siraj, no other RCB bowler has impressed in this season.
Analysing his own performance, Harshal stated that he is giving freebies to the batters and wants to cut that down and improve in certain areas.“I have got 10 wickets but not happy with the way I am bowling. There are a few areas I want to still correct and want to work on. Yeah, I have done reviews after every game, I think I am giving many freebies, I wanna cut down on them,” Harshal was quoted as saying by India Today.
“The conditions are obviously suited to my kind of bowling, and coming from Bangalore it's good to see the long boundaries as a bowler. Looking at their batters we need to bowl well and cut down the boundaries,” he added.
The pacer proved to be economical against LSG in RCB's recent match, as he conceded only 20 runs and also picked up a wicket in 3.5 overs. Batting first, the Faf du Plessis-led side posted 126 runs on the board as Virat Kohli and the skipper himself gave a perfect start to the visiting team.
However, the middle-order once again failed to perform and that is one area that RCB need to improve immediately. RCB won the game eventually as LSG struggled throughout and fell 16 runs short in the end. With that, they remained third on the IPL Points Table while RCB moved to number five.
