Since 2022, reports of divorce between Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik and former Indian tennis player Sania Mirza have been doing rounds on the internet. The reason for the same is that the cricketer is believed to be dating Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar. However, Malik has now opened up about the rumors concerning his personal life.
The former Pakistan cricket captain stated that he wished to celebrate Eid with Sania but was unable to do so due to her professional commitments. He went on to say that the ace tennis player was occupied with the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), where she is doing shows. He added that all he wanted to say is that he misses her too much.
During a conversation with the Pakistani news channel Geo News programme, Malik was asked, "Khabre chal rahi hai, taluqat acche nahi hai (Rumours are going around that all is not well in your relationship with Sania). What do you want to say?"
To which he responded, "Nothing on it (relationship rumours). On Eid I would like to say that had we been together it would have been great. But she has got commitments in IPL. She is doing shows in IPL. That's why we are not together. We share love like always. I miss her a lot, that I can say. There are (professional) commitments. But Eid is a day when you miss a lot the people who are close to you. This is way neither I released a statement nor did she."
However, Ayesha Omar had previously responded to Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik's divorce reports. When asked about her purported relationship with the cricketer, she said that she will never be attracted to a committed or married man. Notably, Ayesha's name has been associated with Malik since the two appeared together in a photo shoot in 2021.
"I will never be attracted to a married or committed man ever. Everyone knows me... that goes without saying," said the actress.
