‘I'm sure he'll do great’ - Shikhar Dhawan showers praise on Washington Sundar

Rohit Sharma-led team India faces hosts Bangladesh in the second game of the three-match ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday, December 7. One of the players who has been in fine touch lately is all-rounder Washington Sundar, who received compliments from Shikhar Dhawan ahead of the second 50-over contest.

After enduring a rather disastrous outing in the first match, Rohit Sharma and Co. will be aiming to get level in the series. Veteran India opener Dhawan showered praise on all-rounder Washington Sundar after the latter displayed his fine innings in the recently concluded New Zealand series.

"He has been performing really well since the time he came back. Even in New Zealand he had an amazing knock and bowled really well. He is a very good all-rounder, quite an impactful off-spinner and lower-order batter. I'm sure the more matches he plays, he's going to get more experienced. He already has a very stable mindset. I'm sure he'll do great in the cricket world and for us,” Dhawan said to the media on the eve of the 2nd ODI.

Sundar overcame injury concerns that kept him out of competitive action at the highest level and created an impression upon his return.

Dhawan further stated that the rivalry between the Bangla Tigers and the Men in Blue has brought out the best of both teams.

"The rivalry is always there with any team but with Bangladesh, they are quite emotional people. They really enjoy and play with great intensity. It's good fun, makes us more intense as well, and keep us on our toes. It brings the best out of us," Dhawan added.

After Litton Das-led Bangladesh outclassed India in the first 50-over contest, it remains to be seen if the side can clinch the series in the second clash.
