Manoj Tiwary launched a scathing attack on India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate following the former Netherlands captain's analysis about Rohit Sharma's indifferent performance in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand.

In the first two ODIs, Rohit has registered scores of 26 (29) and 24 (38). After the second game at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, January 14, ten Doeschate said that the former India captain isn't looking too fluent as there is a shortage of match practice for him at the international level. Rohit retired from T20I cricket in 2024 and Tests last year. He has been playing only ODI cricket in the last few months but his performances against Australia and South Africa were quite impressive.

Tiwary said that he played with Ten Doeschate during his time at the Kolkata Knight Riders and knows that he is a good person. However, the former India cricketer said that the Port Elizabeth-born should have refrained from issuing such statements on a stalwart like Rohit.

"With a lot of respect, I would like to tell Ryan Ten Doeschate, he was with me for four years at KKR. No doubt he is a very good person, but the kind of comment he has made, I think he should have thought about it. He has also played international cricket for the Netherlands, I guess. If you look at his performance in international cricket, I am saying this with all due respect, it is not even 5% of what Rohit has achieved in his career, not just as a batter but also as a captain," Tiwary said.

The cricketer-turned-politician said that the comments made by Ten Doeschate could demoralise any player. Tiwary went on to mention Rohit's contribution to the Indian team and urged the Indian coach to reassess his comments.

"He has given the nation so much happiness by winning the Champions Trophy also and after that, talking like this, that too when he is in the team, not like he is sitting at home and commenting, he is a part of the management, and telling like this about your player is demoralising. I don't know why he said that. He has to reflect on this. I feel he must not make such comments," the former Bengal captain added.
