Winning skipper KL Rahul
I am happy. Good to have a win under the belt. Completely different to what we expected. The plan was to get the spinners in the game. The boys did really well. The boys did well to stay disciplined. The ball kept moving around. There is a lot of cricket being played. You priortize one format. For now, it is Tests and T20s. Everyone is performing and trying to do well for the country. Good chance for them to get a taste of international cricket.
ARSHDEEP SINGH IS POTM
Arshdeep Singh, the pacer who took 5/37 today, has been adjudged as the Player of the Match.
I feel little sore. Loving this moment. Thank God and the team management. It is a little different than normal grounds as I was running out of breathe. Personally it feels good, I am enjoying my role. I would thank Rahul bhai as he said you have to come back and get that fifer. I guess it is about enjoying this moment. When we go there, then focus on what will work there.
POST MATCH PRESENTATION
Aiden Markram: Tough one. Winning the toss, batting first we would have wanted to bat well. Credit to the Indian bowlers. We were behind from the very first ball. Couldn't recover. We expected it to go around a little bit. In the first 6-7 overs, it does do a bit. Today, it lasted a little longer and they bowled well. Comes down to individuals. It is up to them to assess and then plan it forward. We need to take smart options in a given situation.
Sudharsan The STAR
Sai Sudharsan becomes the 17th Indian batter to score a fifty on ODI debut. What a day for the young man!!!

INDIA WIN BY 8 WICKETS WITH 200 BALLS TO SPARE.
India win by 8 wickets
Sai Sudharsan hits the winning runs for the Men in Blue. A clinical victory for India. Everything seemed to be on point from the very beginning. It must be a good feeling for the debutant to hit down the curtains in his maiden game, ending with a well-composed knock. At the end, a victory by 8 wickets for KL Rahul & Co.
Dropped!!
SS goes for the upper cut, ends in edging it to the first slip, who eventually drops a regulation take.
Scores level
A boundary from the bat of Sai Sudharsan levels the scores.
Tilak Varma walks in
The left-handed batter is in to add the finishing touch to the game for India's clinical victory, which seems inevitable now.
Gone!!
Right after reaching his fifty, Iyer departs with India requiring just six runs to win. He went for the big hit, but failed to do so, as the ball found the edge of his blade to hand a simple catch at point. Andile Phehlukwayo strikes in his first over.
Iyer follows suit
With boundaries of consecutive deliveries, Shreyas Iyer, too, has reached his fifty, as India are one hit away from a win.
Sudharsan on fire
Sai Sudharsan gets to his maiden international fifty on debut. Take a bow!!!. He's surely going to remember it for a long, long time.
Another boundary
Sai Sudharsan is looking to make his outing a memorable one, as he is nearing his half-century.
Boundary for Sudharsan
Sai Sudharsan puts the ball in the gap for yet another boundary.
In the wake of a thrilling T20I series that ended in a 1-1 draw, cricket fans are gearing up for the upcoming 3-match ODI series between India and South Africa. Although the World T20 is just six months away, this ODI series holds significance as it marks the beginning of the journey toward the next World Cup for both teams.
For the Proteas, the void of Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma opens doors for new talents like Reeza Hendricks and Tony de Zorzi, who look to establish themselves as key players in the batting lineup. The middle order boasts the likes of Rassie Van Der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and David Miller, forming a formidable core.
In the bowling department, the rest period for Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee paves the way for Andile Phelukwayo and Wiaan Mulder, bringing a fresh perspective to the team's strategy. Tabraiz Shamsi and the fast bowling options complete the lineup, ready to face the Indian challenge.
Team India, on the other hand, enters the ODI series with a rejuvenated squad, featuring a mix of experienced and promising youngsters. With the senior players getting a breather, names like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajat Patidar, and Sai Sudharsan look to make a mark in the middle order. Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal return to the squad, adding depth and experience.
Wanderers, Johannesburg Pitch Report:
The Wanderers' pitch offers quick pace and bounce, favoring aggressive stroke play. Historically, the Wanderers has been a venue where chasing teams have found success. Notably, the famous 434-run game showcased the venue's propensity for high-scoring encounters. Therefore, winning the toss and opting to chase has been a successful strategy in the past. Bowlers can exploit pace and bounce initially and for that reason, batters will have to spend some time on the crease before playing aggressive shots.
Weather Conditions
The weather forecast includes a 25% chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon, adding an element of unpredictability. Overall, an exciting contest between bat and ball awaits in the first ODI of the series between India and South Africa.
