After a very disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, team India is expected to change their approach in the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. Under the able leadership of Hardik Pandya, the Men in Blue recently defeated New Zealand on their home turf and as per initial reports, the 29-year-old may be roped in as India’s new skipper in the shortest format of the game. In that case, Rohit Sharma and other few other senior players may get dropped from the squad.
When it comes to the ODI series against the Lankans, the Rohit Sharma-led side needs to prove its calibre after losing the three-match series against Bangladesh in early December. Their approach in the first two ODIs against the Bangla Tigers seemed to be outdated and that definitely needs to change considering the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to take place later in 2023.
When it comes to Sri Lanka, their recent ODI series against Afghanistan finished on level terms. The Lankan bowling line-up looked average throughout the course of the series while the batters stepped up in the third and final ODI to bring back some lost glory. Now courtesy of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), all the Lankan cricketers will now have enough game time to prepare themselves for the T20I and ODI series against their neighbouring country.
