India Women vs South Africa 2026: T20Is added to revised schedule
Cricket South Africa has revised the schedule for India Women's tour, adding a three-match T20I series to run from December 26 to 30, 2026.
Cricket South Africa announced on August 6, 2026 that a three-match T20I series has been added to India Women's tour of South Africa in December 2026. The revised itinerary now stretches from December 9 to 30, 2026, giving India an extra week in the country compared to the original December 6 to 23 plan.
The tour opens with a Test match at St George's Park in Gqeberha from December 9 to 12, followed by three ODIs. The T20I leg then closes out the trip, with matches on December 26, 29 and 30. The Boxing Day fixture will be held at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, while the final two games move to NWC Oval in Potchefstroom. The revised schedule also removes a clash between the Gqeberha Test and South Africa Men's Test against England. The three ODIs are part of the ICC Women's Championship 2025-29 cycle, which serves as the qualification pathway for the 2029 ODI World Cup. CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki explained the thinking behind the change.
"We are delighted to confirm the revised schedule for India's tour of South Africa, with the addition of the T20 International series over the festive period, ensuring our Proteas Women have the best possible preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year. India remain one of the strongest teams in world cricket, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats will provide invaluable competition as we continue building towards another major ICC event," said Moseki as quoted by Cricinfo.

Why have the T20Is been added to this tour?
The primary reason for expanding the tour is preparation for the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in February 2027. By adding three T20Is across the festive period, both India and South Africa gain competitive match practice in the format before travelling to Sri Lanka.
The timing is particularly relevant for South Africa, who have been in strong T20I form. India lost a T20I series to South Africa 4-1 in March-April 2026, and South Africa also defeated India at the T20 World Cup in England, a result that damaged India's chances of reaching the semi-finals. The additional fixtures give India an opportunity to address that recent deficit against the same opponents on South African soil.

What does South Africa's home summer look like with this addition?
South Africa's home summer is a crowded one. The programme features ten Tests in total across men's and women's cricket, with incoming tours from Australia Men, Bangladesh Men, England Men, India Women and Australia Women. The India Women's visit now spans all three formats, making it one of the more substantial bilateral series of the summer.
The Proteas Women will therefore face Test, ODI and T20I cricket at home before departing for the Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka. The ODI dates for the India Women's tour remain unresolved in the available evidence and have been omitted from this article pending official confirmation.
