‘India’s version of AB de Villiers’ - Dale Steyn heaps praise on Suryakumar Yadav

Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has heaped praises on team India batter, Suryakumar Yadav for his performances with the bat.

The ex-speedster hailed the player as he believes the pace and bounce on the Australian pitches will work well for Suryakumar’s 360-degree game in the forthcoming T20 World Cup. Moreover, the right-hander has been in sublime form in his recent outings in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa at home.

Moreover, the player instantly made his presence felt smashing a 35-ball 52 against Western Australia in  the warm-up game. The two sides locked horns for the first warm up match in Australia as the batter guided his side to register a win by 13 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav has flourished into becoming one of the finest batters in recent times for the sides he has represented. Moreover, his performances has been taken heed by many and former South Africa speedster Dale Steyn too did not hold back from praising the explosive batter comparing him to the great AB de Villiers.

“You can also get away when a bowler tries to bowl full, you can place the ball left and you can use the pace of the ball really well, given some room. So, he is a wonderful 360-degree player, and reminds me of AB de Villiers. He could be India’s version of AB de Villiers and with the red-hot form that he’s in right now, he’s a player to definitely watch out for this World Cup," Steyn said while speaking to Star Sports.

The right-handed pacer further described how the Australian conditions would help Suryakumar Yadav. “He’s the kind of player that likes to use the pace of the ball. He likes to get in behind the square. In places like Perth, Melbourne, all of these grounds, there is a little bit of extra pace on it. So, you can use the pace, you can hit on fine leg, behind and all along the carpet. And he’s also really good when standing still and getting off the back foot. So, he’s an all-round player, and it’s in Australia, where the wickets are so good, they are batter friendly," Steyn added.
