In a battle between two star-studded lineups, Rajat Patidar decimated the Sunrisers Hyderabad with a 20-ball 50-run to give the Royal Challengers Bengaluru only their second win of the season on March 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Former RCB Director Mike Hesson was intrigued by the manner in which Patidar connstructed his exemplary knock. Having brought up his half-century in 19 deliveries against SRH in Match 41 of IPL 2024, Patidar eqalled former RCB batter Robin Uthappa's record of the second-fastest fifty for RCB in the history of the IPL, with the latter registering the record way back in 2010 against the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab).

Hesson was thoroughly impressed Patidar, who middled almost every delivery on a pitch on which batters found it hard to score post the powerplay.

'He has a lot of class. He is a fine player' - Mike Hesson on Rajat Patidar

"Absolute stand-out on the day from both sides. Rajat Patidar, pretty much, hit everything out of the middle. A 19-ball fifty on a surface where pretty much the rest of the batters struggled, particularly after the powerplay, added a whole lot of momentum," stated Hesson.

Hesson further accentuated the technical prowess Patidar possessed, hoping for an opportunity for the cricketer to represent the national team again after poor returns against England in the Test series in 2024.

"He has a lot of class. He is a fine player. Although he has not quite clicked for India yet, I hope he gets another opportunity, I am sure he will, he is a fine player," Hesson said.

Meanwhile, RCB will play their next game against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 28 in Ahmedabad while Sunrisers Hyderabad will be up against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on the same day.
