IPL 2025: Best Catch of the Match – GT vs MI, Eliminator
Bairstow was dismissed three runs short of a fifty by an excellent relay catch.
Sai Sudharsan and Gerald Coetzee combined brilliantly to get rid of Jonny Bairstow during the Eliminator of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians at the Maharaja Yadaviindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. Bairstow had to depart for a quick-fire 47-run knock which came off just 22 deliveries in his first game of this season.
A tossed up delivery by R Sai Kishore was attempted to be reverse-swept by the wicketkeeper-batter over the infield. However, he could not get the desired elevation on his shot. Stationed at backward point, Sudharsan leaped aerially to his left to tip the ball to Coetzee. The South African quick accepted the simplest of catches, one which could be made possible because of Sudharsan's athleticism.
Rohit receives lifelines in consecutive overs in Eliminator
Bairstow, coming in place of Ryan Rickelton, looked in fine nick till that point. He paired alongside Rohit Sharma to put up 79 at the end of the powerplay. His dismissal on the second delivery of the eighth over was the first breakthrough effected by GT, after MI had won the toss and elected to bat first.
