The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is nearing its conclusion, with just two matches remaining in the tournament. The cash-rich league, which began on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, has now entered the playoff stage after weeks of competition. Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to face Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 on June 1 at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As the knockout stage unfolds, weather conditions have become a major concern. The rain has already impacted several matches this season, which led to changes in points standings and affecting the team. With the tournament reaching its end, fans, players, and experts are hoping for uninterrupted play. To handle potential weather disruptions, the IPL Governing Council has allowed an additional hour of playtime for matches affected by rain.

This season also saw a temporary suspension of 10 days due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to a rescheduled calendar. As a result, the IPL final, initially scheduled for May 25 at Kolkata, has now been pushed to June 3, in Ahmedabad. The host city is under the threat of rain on the match day, as the all-important contest is hours away from its commencement.

However, there is no reserve day allocated for Qualifier 2. If rain forces a washout in Qualifier 2 between PBKS and MI, PBKS will advance to the final as they are in the top of the Points Table with 17 points, whereas the five-time champions finished fourth with 16 points. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have already secured their place in the final after defeating PBKS in Qualifier 1.

The winner of the PBKS vs MI clash will face RCB in the grand finale on June 3, also at Ahmedabad. The final has a reserve day, unlike Qualifier 2. If weather disrupts the match on June 3, the final will be played on the next day, June 4.
