IPL 2025: Virat Kohli completes 9000 T20 runs for RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting stalwart, Virat Kohli once again registered his name in the record books, becoming the first player to score 9000 T20 runs for a single franchise. The milestone came during RCB’s important clash against the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 70 of IPL 2025 at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium.

The veteran batter has been associated with RCB since the start of the IPL in 2008. Over the years, he has become the face of the franchise, leading from the front. Kohli crossed the 9000-run mark in T20s for RCB, a feat that includes 8579 runs and counting in the IPL and 424 in the now-defunct Champions League T20 (CLT20). He is the first-ever batter in cricket history to reach this milestone for a single T20 team.

Meanwhile, ahead of the LSG clash, the Delhi-born had already scored 548 runs in 12 innings with seven fifties, making him a strong contender for the Orange Cap. Notably, RCB had won every match in which Kohli crossed the fifty-run mark this season.

Speaking of the current game, RCB were asked to chase a big target of 228 thanks to Rishabh Pant’s brilliant 118* off 61 balls. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru-based franchise will be heavily dependent on their star batter to once again take them over the line and lead them to a top-two finish.
