Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the Indian Premier League 2026, conducted a mock event ahead of the actual mini-auction, set to be held by the BCCI in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. Like the scenes are expected to be in the main event, the mock auction was also all about Cameron Green, as the star Australian all-rounder was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 30.5 crore.

During the mock auction, Robin Uthappa, who has represented KKR during their victorious season in 2014, stood as the in-charge of the Kolkata-based franchise. Uthappa went all guns blazing to make Green a part of the KKR club by spending a sizeable chunk out of the total available purse. To put things into reality, if Green actually gets that much amount for the 2026 season, it will make him the most expensive player.

Last year, Rishabh Pant broke the record for becoming the most expensive player ever bought in IPL auction, as the wicketkeeper-batter was bagged by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore and also captained the side that season. A similar case is expected to happen with Green, as KKR are looking for a replacement of a now-retired Andre Russell.

Notably, the Indian Premier League will be witnessing the auction happen outside India for the third-consecutive time when the ten franchise and their co-owners form a think tank to bag the best players to their unit for the nineteenth season of the cricketing spectacle. Green, who is among the most talked-about player, is expected to bag the highest bid in this year's event.

Green is a part of the list where the set of Marquee Players will be up for grabs in the opening round of the auction. Apart from the Aussie, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jonny Bairstow, Venkatesh Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Steven Smith, and David Miller are also a part of the list. All these names have set their base price at an offer of INR 2 crore for the opening bid.
