Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a comfortable six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match No. 5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Wednesday, April 1 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

LSG were bowled out for 141 in 18.4 overs, with Abdul Samad top-scoring with 36 and Mitchell Marsh contributing 35. For DC, Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan picked up three wickets each, while Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with two.

In reply, DC chased down the target in 17.1 overs, powered by an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls from Sameer Rizvi, well supported by Tristan Stubbs, who remained not out on 39. Prince Yadav took two wickets for LSG, but the low target proved insufficient to defend.

Key Moments from Match 5 of IPL 2026:

1) Delhi Capitals bowlers tighten the grip early

Lucknow Super Giants batters were never allowed to settle as wickets fell at regular intervals. For DC, T Natarajan starred with figures of 3/29, dismissing Ayush Badoni, Mohammed Shami and Abdul Samad. Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi delivered a crucial spell, removing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran with a clever slower ball that rattled his stumps. He also picked up the wickets of Anrich Nortje and Mohsin Khan to finish with impressive figures of 3/27.

2) LSG bowlers hit back strongly

After being bowled out for a modest total, LSG’s bowlers responded with early breakthroughs. Mohammed Shami struck on the very first ball, dismissing KL Rahul, while Mohsin Khan removed Nitish Rana soon after. During the powerplay, Prince Yadav further tilted momentum by picking up two key wickets in one over, dismissing Pathum Nissanka and Axar Patel to briefly bring the contest back in LSG’s favour.

3) Sameer Rizvi anchors chase with composed knock

After the top order collapsed early, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs held their nerve to steady DC’s chase. The duo stitched together a crucial 119-run partnership off 76 balls for the fifth wicket, effectively sealing the game. Rizvi remained unbeaten on 70 off 47 balls, striking five fours and four sixes at an impressive strike rate of 148.94. Stubbs provided solid support with an unbeaten 39 off 32 deliveries, guiding DC to a comfortable six-wicket victory.
