In news of big relief, the Karnataka State Cricket Association has received the go-ahead from the Government of Karnataka and other relevant authorities to host their home games for the IPL 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The state association confirmed the development via an official media release, dated Saturday, January 17.

This is a very positive sign for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans, as the franchise will now be seen playing their home games of the upcoming 2026 season at one of the most iconic cricketing landmarks in the country. An official confirmation from the defending champions of the marquee T20 tournament regarding the matter is expected to be made soon.

"We are pleased to inform you that the Home Department, Government of Karnataka, has granted permission to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to host international and IPL matches at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru," the KSCA release read.

"The permission is subject to compliance with specific terms and conditions prescribed by the Government and the concerned Authorities. KSCA is confident of fulfilling all the stipulated conditions. The Association has already presented a detailed compliance roadmap before the Expert Review Committee and remains fully committed to implementing all safety, security, and crowd-management measures in letter and spirit," the release read further.

For the unversed, the Chinnaswamy Stadium had been suspended from hosting any high-profile matches since the horrific stampede incident on June 4 in the aftermath of the victory celebration parade by the RCB at the venue after they won their maiden IPL title in 2025.
