IPL 2026: Video of the Day - Sudharsan's tumbling stunner sends back Rana in Rashid's double-wicket over
Rana misread Rashid's googly and top-edged it towards Sudharsan at long-off.
The Gujarat Titans scored 210/4 after being put into bat by the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
In response, the Delhi Capitals took off with a bang, with openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka stitching a partnership of 76 runs off 49 balls. Nissanka fell to Prasidh Krishna, which brought Nitish Rana onto the crease. But before he could get going, he was dismissed by Rashid Khan, with Sai Sudharsan pulling off a spectacular tumbling catch.
The Afghan leg-spinner bowled a googly on a good length, which Rana misread and tried to hit across the line. He did not time it, as the ball took a top-edge and went up in the air towards long-off. Sudharsan, stationed on the boundary rope, had to cover a good distance as he ran inwards and completed the catch safely, while on his knees.
While all the focus was on Sudharsan's spectacular effort in the field, Rashid followed this up by dismissing the in-form Sameer Rizvi in the following ball, as he failed to pick up another googly, pressing forward and getting beaten for turn. Rizvi has been in scintillating form this season, picking up Player of the Match award in both of Delhi's previous matches, for scores of 70* and 90 in tricky chases.
There exists a significant history behind this matchup. Rizvi, coincidentally, playing his first game in the IPL in 2024 for the Chennai Super Kings, had hit Rashid for six playing his first ball in the tournament. With Rizvi's wicket, Rashid broke the game open in the span of two balls, stopping the Delhi Capitals from running away with the chase.
Rashid finished his spell with figures of 3/17 from his four overs, as he dismissed DC skipper Axar Patel in the final ball of his spell. Axar sliced a googly high up in the air, and Glenn Phillips completed a spectacular diving catch, running backwards from extra cover.
