The T20 World Cup 2022 has been going on really well, and though there have been a couple of upsets, there have also been some great thrillers in the Super 12 stage of the tournament. India’s start to the tournament was no less than a rollercoaster, when the Men in Blue locked horns with arch-rivals Pakistan, and won the game by four wickets on the ultimate delivery of the game.

After losing to India, Pakistan faced a major upset in the tournament when they were defeated by Zimbabwe in yet another final-ball thriller. Pakistan failed to chase a low target of 131 runs as Zimbabwe ended up winning the game by the barest of margins- just one run. That loss got a lot of experts and pundits talking, and Pakistan received harsh criticism from the former players of the team.

There was one cricketer who criticized Pakistan but also said that India won’t last long in the tournament. The comments came from former Pakistani pace sensation Shoaib Akhtar, as he had opined his thoughts on the Indian team and said that India would not be able to make it to the finals, and the team will return back home after losing the semi-finals.

Reacting to Akhtar’s comments, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer, while speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker, hilariously said:

“You know those people who have a parrot in hand and they predict the future, the tarot readers. I think Shoaib Akhtar is doing the same thing. He can see the future, who is doing what. I think it’s a very loose statement coming from such a player who has played so much international cricket. You don’t need to say that, because the teams are playing well. You need to understand that India is playing well. They escaped to a win courtesy of Virat Kohli, but India has been playing well for a while and they have got all the bases covered to win an international event.”

It's a pretty flipping comment to make: Stuart Law

Stuart Law, who was also a part of the discussion, agreed with Jaffer and opined that there was no need for Akhtar to make such a comment on India after seeing how good the Men in Blue have been in the recent past. Sharing his thoughts on Akhtar’s comments, Stuart Law said:

“He’s a passionate supporter and an ex-player. You make a comment to make a conversation, to create waves and storms on social media. That’s exactly what he has done and it has worked perfectly for him. It's a pretty flipping comment to make that they (India) will be gone by the end of the week, but I don't think that's going to be the case.”
