Kamran Dhariwal repays Gloucestershire's faith with contract extension

Kamran Dhariwal has committed his future to Gloucestershire by extending his contract with the county. The 21-year-old batter made his professional debut on May 22, 2026, in the Vitality Blast and has since delivered several match-winning performances that impressed the club's leadership. Balancing his studies in medicine at the University of Bristol with elite professional cricket, Dhariwal has demonstrated significant commitment to both pursuits.

Dhariwal's breakthrough came during the Vitality Blast campaign when he produced a 13-ball half-century against Worcestershire Rapids, scoring 70 runs from 22 balls with eight sixes. This innings was completed in nine minutes, marking the fastest domestic T20 fifty by elapsed time in England. Following his T20 Blast success, he made his List-A debut in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, contributing to Gloucestershire's quarter-finals qualification.

"Obviously I'm really happy. Gloucestershire has given me a lot, and I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had so far this season. Hopefully it can continue, and I can repay the Club with performances on the pitch." Dhariwal said in a statement released by the club.

Gloucestershire's Director of Cricket, Jon Lewis, was also very excited to keep Dhariwal at the club for the next two years. He said that the club would work towards helping in the youngster's growth both on and off the field.

Dhariwal's pathway to professional cricket was shaped by his development through Hampshire's Academy and the South Asian Cricket Academy before joining Gloucestershire. He spent the 2025 season with Gloucestershire's Second XI, gaining experience at that level before stepping into first-team cricket. His progression from academy cricket to professional debut within a single calendar year reflected the rapid trajectory of his career.
