India successfully chased down 351 in that match, with Kohli's aggressive innings proving decisive in the successful pursuit. The right-hander's strike rate and ability to accelerate against quality bowling made this knock stand out in Srikkanth's assessment.

The second position in Srikkanth's ranking went to Kohli's unbeaten 133 off 86 balls during India's chase against Sri Lanka in Hobart in 2012. India completed the chase of 321 in just 36.4 overs, demonstrating the dominance of Kohli's innings in that successful pursuit. The left-arm pace attack of Sri Lanka could not contain Kohli's aggressive batting on that occasion.

Srikkanth's third choice was Kohli's unbeaten 100 off just 52 balls during India's chase of 360 in the second ODI of the 2013 series against Australia. India reached the target with 39 balls to spare. The explosive nature of Kohli's innings, combined with the magnitude of the chase, made it a standout performance in Srikkanth's view.

Notable exclusion from the top three

Kohli's 114 off 99 balls against West Indies in 2019 secured the fourth position in Srikkanth's ranking. India chased down 255 in a 35-over contest, with Kohli's unbeaten century guiding the team to victory. The knock demonstrated his ability to construct an innings while maintaining the required run rate in a shortened format.

One of Kohli's most celebrated innings did not feature in Srikkanth's top three selections. His 183 against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup in Dhaka was ranked fifth by Srikkanth. Kohli scored 183 off 148 deliveries as India chased down a target of 330 in the 48th over, producing one of the finest ODI innings of his career in that tournament.

Remaining centuries in Srikkanth's ranking

Kohli's unbeaten 154 off 134 balls against New Zealand in 2016 was placed sixth by Srikkanth. India successfully chased down 286 in that match, with Kohli's composed batting proving crucial in the successful pursuit. The innings showcased his ability to build an innings methodically while keeping India ahead of the required rate.

His 139 off 86 balls against Sri Lanka in 2014 earned the seventh spot in Srikkanth's rankings. Kohli's unbeaten knock helped India complete a successful chase, demonstrating his consistency against the Sri Lankan bowling attack in run-chase situations.

Kohli's 122 against England in 2017 came in at number eight after he helped India chase 351. The right-hander's innings was instrumental in India's successful pursuit of a challenging target against quality English bowling.

His first ODI century in a successful chase was placed ninth in Srikkanth's list. He scored 107 off 114 balls against Sri Lanka in 2012 as India chased down 316. This knock marked the beginning of Kohli's exceptional record in chase situations at the international level.

His 118 against Australia in 2010 completed Srikkanth's top 10 at number ten. Despite helping India successfully chase 290, Srikkanth ranked this knock lower than the other centuries on his list. The innings still demonstrated Kohli's early promise in ODI cricket during chase scenarios.
