Glenn Maxwell's hilarious statement after record breaking innings
Star Australia all rounder Glenn Maxwell gave a hilarious statement after his record breaking innings during Match 24 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka in Delhi. The right-handed batter sent records for a toss as he registered the fastest hundred in ODI World Cup history off just 40 balls. After his knock, Maxwell gave a rather hilarious statement that he didn't want to bat before coming in.
"I was sitting in the changing room and I didn't really want to bat," said Maxwell after the game.

Winning skipper Pat Cummins said:
Really happy, complete game. To put 400 on board and then defend well, couldn't be happier. Crazy innings. I think we both contributed equally in that hundred partnership (chuckles). Fantastic innings, the cleanest hitting I've seen. We played the style we liked to. Please with Smithy getting runs. We were aiming for powerplay wickets, bowled quite well without a lot of luck. Zamps with another four-fer. They (New Zealand) are a really good side.. Big game in Dharamsala. It's the World Cup and we are in a good space, can't wait to get there. (Areas to improve) I don't think we have totally nailed the 50 overs with the bat yet.
Losing skipper Scott Edwards said:
They are a quality side, we should have been better today. Execution (what could have been done better with ball). You miss by fractions and you get out of the park. Full credit to the Aussies. We got back in a bit there with 10 overs to go. Maxwell got going and we couldn't stop him. Pretty nice wicket here and ball travels so quickly. Those two (opening batters) were awesome for us for the last 18 months and one of the reasons why we are here so we back them all the way. Just touch on things to improve and move on quickly from this and prepare ourselves for the next game.
POTM Glenn Maxwell said:
(Fastest WC hundred record) Not something I set out to do. Just situation of the game. Wanted to put a good platform for the back end and cash in on this ground. Ball can run away quite quickly. Nice to get in rhythm. (What clicked) Just making good decisions. Give myself a little bit of time and give myself a bit of confidence and platform. (Going forward) Huge confidence booster knowing I've got that in my locker. Doubts can creep in when not scoring consistently but good to score this. (Clinical?) Close to the perfect game if you score 400 and bowl them out for under 400. Lot of guys got to have a hit. We've had three really good wins in a row," Maxwell said.

Match 24 of the 2023 Cricket World Cup is set to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where Australia and the Netherlands will go head-to-head on Wednesday. Both teams have had contrasting journeys in the tournament so far.
Australia started with two losses but managed to turn their fortunes around with back-to-back victories against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. This resurgence has given them a boost in confidence, although they are fully aware of the Netherlands' potential and are not taking it lightly. The Australian team are determined to secure another win in this upcoming match.
On the other hand, the Netherlands had a historic win against South Africa but stumbled in their game against Sri Lanka, losing by 5 wickets. Despite this setback, the Dutch team's confidence remains high, and they are expected to put up a tough fight against Australia.
Australia's batting lineup will be strengthened by the return of Travis Head, who has recovered from a left-hand injury. David Warner and Mitch Marsh, who have been in excellent form, are expected to play crucial roles for the team. Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis will be key players in the bowling department.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands have been struggling with a lack of runs from their top order. Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, Vikramjeet Singh, and Scott Edwards will need to step up and perform exceptionally well against Australia's formidable bowling attack.
The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected to assist both pace and spin bowlers, making it challenging for both teams. Interestingly, in two out of three ODIs played here, the team batting first emerged victorious, a fact that both captains would be aware of.
