Meg Lanning, the Australia women's captain, is optimistic about her future in the sport but has chosen not to comment on her participation in the upcoming tour of India. She had previously skipped the Ashes in England due to health reasons and is now preparing for the Melbourne Stars' WBBL season. Lanning didn't provide details regarding her two recent extended breaks from cricket over the past two years.

Australia's women's cricket team is gearing up for the day-night pink ball Test against India in December 2023. This significant match will take place at Mumbai's renowned Wankhede Stadium, marking India's first home women's Test since 2014. While Aussie Skipper was absent from Australia's recent series against the West Indies, there's a possibility she might join the team for the historic day-night Test in Mumbai in December.

"I haven't thought that far ahead (about India). I'm back playing some cricket, which is nice. I'm really enjoying it, and I still feel like I have a little bit more to give, but what exactly that looks like, I'm not sure." Lanning said after she made her first media appearance in over six months.

‘It's just about getting into a confident position’ – Lanning on her comeback

Following Australia's gold medal win at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last year, the 31-year-old took a hiatus from cricket and made her comeback in January during the home series against Pakistan. She confessed to not closely following the Ashes, where Alyssa Healy led Australia to retain the trophy through a drawn series in England. She wrapped up her cricket commitments after participating in the inaugural Women's Premier League with the Delhi Capitals in March.

"I didn't bat for a fairly long time, Probably I needed a little bit heading into the WNCL. But I have played a lot of cricket over the years so I do feel like the skillset's there. It's just about getting into a confident position and feeling good in my mind that I can go out there and play. I feel like I'm in that position now," she added.
