Mohsin Naqvi invites Indian team to ACC office for trophy, claims he never apologized to BCCI
Naqvi has said that the Indian team can visit him at the ACC office and collect the trophy.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairperson Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday, October 1, refuted claims by the Indian media that he had apologized to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the trophy handover incident at Sunday’s Asia Cup 2025 final.
The closing ceremony of the Asia Cup descended into farce on Sunday when the Indian cricket team refused to collect the winners’ trophy from the ACC chief, marking a historic low in cricketing relations between the two countries.
“Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologized to the BCCI nor will I ever do so. This fabricated nonsense is nothing but cheap propaganda, aimed only at misleading their own people. Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game," Naqvi shared on his official social media handle on Wednesday.

Furthermore, Naqvi also shared that as a dedicated president of the continental body, he will all but willing to hand over the trophy to the Indian team, the deserved winners. Naqvi has openly announced that the Indian team or the BCCI is free to come to the ACC office and take the trophy away, which has been in his undue custody since the finale in Dubai.
"As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me,” the PCB chief wrote further.
