Former India skipper MS Dhoni has been roped in as the brand ambassador of JioCinema. The legendary India batter will be seen promoting network initiatives on the platform. Before the start of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Dhoni signed a professional deal with leading media agency Viacom18 and will be seen promoting Sports18 and JioCinema on his social media accounts. Notably, Viacom18 had earlier bagged the digital media rights for the upcoming IPL season.

Talking more about his latest deal, the 41-year-old will also feature in JioCinema’s campaign to promote the upcoming IPL edition.

Excited for his latest signing, the 41-year old said that digital platforms can offer viewers their desired choices and come with a personalised interface that lets viewers enjoy their favourite game in a way they like.

“I truly believe that watching sports is best enjoyed when you can catch your favourite action on-the-go or from the comfort of your own home but with interactivity, choice and personalisation, something that only a digital platform can offer,” said MS Dhoni.

He also added, “JioCinema is taking the proposition to a whole new level by engaging with fans in ways one could never think of. I can’t wait to be part of this paradigm shift and what is the future of sports viewing.”

In 2020, the veteran hung his boots from international cricket after featuring for the last time in India colours in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final game against New Zealand.

Dhoni's CSK to take on Gujarat Giants in tournament opener

Following Chennai Super Kings’s dismal show in the league last year, this time, Dhoni will bank on his leadership skills to make his team champions for the fifth time. In the previous IPL edition, CSK ended up in the ninth position with four victories and 10 losses. On March 31, CSK will kick off their IPL season, taking on defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the tournament opener at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This IPL season could be his last appearance in the league and he will look to end it in style. In the last three editions of the marquee tournament, he didn't seem to be at his best but this year, his fans are expecting him to deliver top-notch performance with his batting and captaincy to help Super Kings lift the trophy for one last time.
