Team Afghanistan is facing Sri Lanka in a group-stage encounter of the T20 World Cup 2022 being played at The Gabba, Brisbane on November 1 (Tuesday). The Afghani side is yet to open its account in the points table after two of their matches got washed out while they had to suffer a defeat in one of their encounters.

Afghanistan fans will dearly want their side to come on top against Sri Lanka and open their account in the points table. Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer and commentator Deep Dasgupta has said that Afghanistan and New Zealand are everyone's favorites and no fan around the world wants them to lose if their own country is not playing them.

Every person has his second and third favorite team set: Deep Dasgupta on Afghanistan and New Zealand

"Every person has his second and third favorite team set. The first is their own country, while everyone loves Afghanistan and New Zealand. There is no one who doesn't want Afghanistan or New Zealand to win if their own team is not playing. It comes so naturally because the cricket, excitement, and the flavor that comes during their match that is totally different. When you go to the venues and see Afghanistan fans, they are unbelievable," Dasgupta said on 'BatBricks presents Run ki Runeeti' show on CricTracker.

At present, Afghanistan are taking on Sri Lanka in their group-stage encounter. They won the toss against the Island nation and opted to have a bat first. The likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Usman Ghani, and Ibrahim Zadran got starts with the bat, but they all failed to convert it into a big score. However, Afghanistan is looking strong to post a competitive total on the board.

Meanwhile, team New Zealand will take on England in a high-octane clash to be played later today. The Kiwi side will want to defeat the Three Lions and consolidate their position in the points table.
